10-Minute Homemade Honey BBQ Sauce Recipe From Scratch

This recipe is not only the best honey bbq sauce you will ever taste, it is also easy to whip up in just 10 minutes. Looking for plain bbq sauce? Just leave out the honey and you now have a pantry staple you no longer need to buy from the store!

Equipment

  • medium saucepan
  • Whisk

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • ½ cup salted butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar or maple sugar
  • ½ cup molasses
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup of water
  • 1 T of liquid smoke
  • 1 T of paprika
  • 1 tsp. of black pepper
  • 1 T cumin
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. of onion powder
  • ½ cup honey

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat while whisking continuously.
  • Simmer on medium-low heat for 5 minutes, continuing to whisk.
  • Let cool before transferring to an airtight jar. Refrigerate. It will keep 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator or can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Notes

Want to make regular BBQ sauce instead of honey? Simply reduce the brown sugar to 1/2 cup and omit the honey.
